भीष्मद्रोणतटां जयद्रथजलां गान्धारराजह्रदां कर्णद्रौणिकृपोर्मिनक्रमकरां दुर्योधनस्रोतसम्। तीर्णः शत्रुनदीं शराससिकतां येन प्लवेनार्जुनः शत्रूणां तरणेषु वः स भगवानस्तु प्लवः केशवः ॥ १॥

भीष्म-द्रोण-तटाम् = यस्याः तटौ भीष्मः द्रोणः च ताम् नदीम् = the river whose banks are Bhishma and Drona
जयद्रथजलाम् = यस्याः जलं जयद्रथः ताम् नदीम् = The river whose waters are Jayadratha
गान्धार-राज-ह्रदाम् = यस्याः ह्रदः(जलाशयः) गान्धारस्य राजा शकुनिः ताम् नदीम् = the river whose ditch is Shakuni, king of Gandhar
कर्ण-द्रौणि-कृप-ऊर्मि-नक्र-मकरां = यस्याः ऊर्मी कर्णः, नक्रः द्रोणपुत्रः अश्वत्थामा, कृपाचार्यः मकरः ताम् नदीम् = the river whose waves are Karna, shark is Ashwatthaama, the alligator is Kripacharya
दुर्योधनस्रोतसम् = यस्याः स्रोतसः  दुर्योधनः ताम् नदीम् = the river whose source is Duryodhana
तीर्णः = तरणं कृतवान् = crossed
शत्रुनदीम् = शत्रु-रुपिणी नदीम् = the river in the form of enemies
शराससिकताम् = यस्याः सिकता शरासाः(बाणाः) ताम् नदीम् = the river whose sand are arrows
येन प्लवेन = यया नौकया = by which boat
अर्जुनः = धनञ्जयः = Arjuna
शत्रूणाम् = वैरिणाम् = of the enemies
तरणेषु = लङ्घनेषु = in the crossings
वः = युष्माकम् = yours
सः भगवान् अस्तु = (युष्माकम्) भगवान् भवतु सः = let him the Lord be unto (you)
प्लवः = नौका = boat
केशवः = श्रीकृष्णः = Lord Krishna

May Lord Krishna be your boat just as he was Arjuna's boat in crossing the river of enemies whose banks were Bhishma and Drona, whose ditch was Shakuni, whose waves were Karna, shark Ashwatthaama, alligators Kripacharya, whose sands were arrows, and the source Duryodhana.
